In the digital remasterten, “Eleanor Rigby” seemed the strings above the T + A PA 1260 R (3200 euro) literally to “breathe”; with its predecessor, they were just sounds.

His predecessor was hardly a tribute: in the six years of his tenure got the smart PA R a big highlight in the test (5/07) 1230 and was appointed by the readers for the regular choice of appliances of the year several times on one of the front seats.
But six years one are unusual in the HiFi offer long, and so made is T + A-Chief Scientist Lothar Wiemann at the complete renovation of the highly decorated Flachmanns. We can only agree. After recently playing on the Magico v3 (6/08) work references and Sonics Allegra (8/05) it became clear that this T + A sound has made a giant leap forward. The ease with which he dissolved the tweeter braids on Monty of Alexander’s “Caribbean Circle” (Chesky), the force that he gave the piano of master, provoked the gentlemen Dalibor Beric to an appreciative whistle: “Hey, yes really good.”
But even better than his predecessor, highly decorated? To length. The tonality of the two might be more similar to, but everything goes fine resolution, openness, plastic figure, was simply better, more accurate, open the new. Just the “Caribbean circle” seemed to live much more with the 1260; There was to discover more details.

Perhaps the warm sound of the S 6 is faster in the heart of the music listener. And certainly also the generous room figure.
But only as long as the volume remains manageable. And only on efficiency-strong boxes. For those who have “normal” boxes at home and like it too loud, T + as PA 1260 R is currently the best deal in this price class.

Opinion
First of all, I was disappointed: it’s a completely new development? But 1:1 looks like its predecessor. But I must admit to have rarely witnessed such progress by renewing of pure components. As it sounds, is this PA topped 1260 even the six years duration of the predecessor R.

Review
Short conclusion In the sober and elegant housing of R series slumbers here a highly musical, open alive-sounding HiFi amps. The best thing to have is around 3000 euros.
