Eyeglasses Became Part of My Style

I started wearing glasses too small (I mean, small I am to this day) as a child. At school, I looked around and was the only nerd face, in adolescence, just when I was of quatrolhos dancing to the ground atnaites, and at weddings of adult life, I am the guest who needs assistance to be able to see the bride.
No, I can’t wear contact lenses. And, these days, from the top of my 30 years, I can finally say: I don’t want to.
But I wanted to. And much. To get rid of stupid bullying from classmates, then to insert a padrãozinho, a clique, so that I could merge with the herd, and don’t stick out for something considered bad (Nick Hornby explains it better than me in the great “a big boy”, is worth watching the movie with Hugh Grant as well), and not to be the only one in the fancy occasions of adulthood ver the world behind a frameand acetate scratched lenses. Sloppy people thing?
Have you ever wanted to really get rid of glasses because I couldn’t I preferred them to contact lenses, and also because they have never been considered able to let women be beautiful. Just view the movies(not the “a big boy”, heh): the ugly duckling becomes a Muse of high school when you release your hair, take the appliance, take a shower, and obviously, to get rid of the glasses. Just like that she was no longer the girl inteligentona to conquer the Prince charming. That stereotype, huh?
Sexy glasses? Just for the nerds, or those who were bilingual Secretary style of fetish movie cliché, cliché, with fake lenses without prescription just to make a type. And get more information from Act-test-centers.com.
But, at the same time in that wanted to get rid of the glasses, they were my shield-the mocking reflected on the lenses and back. And I built gradually. Realizing that my face was molded by them. To not recognize me without them. To finally understand that they were a part of me. And it’s okay to be the only quatrolhos on the dance floor.
As this turns up? Now, finding a nice frame (with the help of Carla, look how wonderful, that gave me the nice touch of a lighter acetate fall better in my face white boy and almost childish, contrasting little with my red hair). I finally understand what glasses you’re not supposed to be discreet, those classic thin metal frames that only hold the lenses do not make the invisible apparatus, and that I have to be proud of who I am. Inside and out.
Companions of so many years (more than a quarter of a century!), glasses, in a way, define who I am, my self-image was built through them. And it was with them that I learned to accept (and love) who I am today, after so much time trying to get rid of my glasses, I can finally say: I don’t want to. And I’m happy for that.
