What started as a rumor has overtones of become a reality: France Telecom has made a takeover bid for TeliaSonera.
Let us remember that France Telecom is owner of Orange, company that bought in the year 2000, and carry out this acquisition would become also the owner of Yoigo, so both operators would have a same owner on the Spanish market.
Anyway, it is still in the air which would be the future of both, if they continue as independent operators or if they could merge. All of this subject, in addition, to this purchase make effective, which at the moment is still not clear.
The offer is friendly, so TeliaSonera must accept it, and it must solve the problems representing the interests of French and Swedish Governments in the respective companies.
UPDATE: TeliaSonera has rejected France Telecom’s offer.
