The Nokia E71 has enjoyed in the connect editing everyone who’s try, very popular. Appropriate despite compact dimensions to the text input keyboard contributes to do this as well as the practical high endurance and the exceptionally high-quality processing. With so much success, the anticipation of the Nokia E75 was particularly great.

Finally, is the new addition to the portfolio of the Finns of the E7 in the name, is even still a bit more expensive than the E71 with 469 euros and offers a slide-out QWERTY keyboard in landscape mode. This keyboard is initially even well hidden.

The E75 as a normal cell phone great shedding 320 x 240 pixel Transflective Display with reclining including standard mobile keyboard presents itself in a compressed State.

Experienced eyes see while on first glance that the E75 is slightly larger than most Nokia phones, but enough for a PDA phone dimensions still for top marks in terms of ease of handling. Where critical users still most likely to wrangle with the height of 15 mm or weighing 144 grams.

Right to access

But large hands for calls received right to grab something. And the thumb of the left hand something to push, because with it the user violates the display frame presses, if real texts on the QWERTY keyboard should be typed instead of simple numbers on the phone keyboard.

Which has almost 60 percent more space as the mobile phone QWERTY combination keyboard of the E71, but for that she almost completely dispenses with rounded keys – that reduces the accuracy gained more space again.

Otherwise a direct comparison, that both PDA-phones excellent use can be with one hand than phones, with the E71, you can even with one hand texts. On the E75, the addition of second hand facilitates entering text on the wide keyboard.

High-quality processing

As regards the processing, there are many similarities between the Nokia E75 and the 71. It starts with the glossy cover of the battery compartment, which is curved in both cases made of solid metal.

Also the high-quality display frame shows with his glass-looking disc that both devices from a stall. Even of the sliding mechanism of the keyboard and the back cover visible in deferred display need fear no comparison to other mobile phones.

And yet the E71 has a high quality. About this, that it has a rare dark variant instead of hard, bright chrome and like his deft combination of silk and full gloss.

Facilities with little smears

In the facilities of the E75, Nokia has probably searched for ways that to save the one or the other euro in places where no one notice it. Hardly anyone noticed is expected, that the E75 supports IrDA standard no infrared transfer.

Already critical can be in some cases the reduced memory extension: instead of the already not lush available 110 megabytes of the E71 only 67 MB for the user are free, what surprising given current market prices for Flash memory.

But Nokia leaving its customers not in the rain and has already put a full 4 GB card for the slot in the popular MicroSD format with into the box. So only users will suffer really lack of memory, which often change the MicroSD card and yet remaining data requires a high place forever on the PDA-phone have.

Transmission quality and interfaces

But apart from these differences the two Nokia phones in many ways not much to take. So, both models of quad-band GSM support up to the faster EDGE data transfer.

In the UMTS network is the E75 on two tapes at home and can download data via HSDPA up to 3.6 Mbit / s; the rapid upload it not yet supported as the E71. Who wants to save at home or at other suitable places, can change with the E75 also on Wi-Fi (b/g).

The newcomer also confirmed that Nokia very well on Bluetooth itself support, in the portfolio. The camera complies with the standard prescribed by the E71 with 3.2-megapixel auto-focus sensor together with photo light, a highlight is however not on both devices.

Complete software

Usual complete the software of your S60 device presents itself: from the phone and messaging in all known forms of information management and simple Office applications and the mobile Internet entertainment with music and video, the E75 supports everything you need on the road frequently.

Even a GPS receiver with A-GPS support is installed, Nokia maps offers first orientation for this purpose.

Pleasing: Here the headset and headphone jack, that existed in the E71 in the 2.5-millimeter format, has grown into the usual good headphones 3.5 mm Variant. But who likes listening to music with the Smartphone, quickly becomes aware of another equipment difference: the battery of the E75 has a significantly less capacity than the E71.

The laboratory brings differences on the day

This despite consumption slightly reduced by lower memory or progress in energy management significantly affects: the older Nokia lasts around 8 hours in the typical application mix – enough for the longest work day and economical use of time for the whole week.

Are the 5:39 hours for the E75, since the energy can be running out at the end of a long day. While enough juice is present in the GSM network, which in Germany almost all discussions, with seven hours even for pronounced Chatterboxes, closing with the verbal communication is in UMTS mode after less than two hours.

Both models are about the same in the radio and Acoustic measurements. But the bottom line, the excellent sister model is the E75 undoing, which remains the first choice for the PDA-phones by Nokia especially thanks to his stamina, and thanks to the more favorable price.
