Falkland Islands: climate

Falkland Islands: climate

Travel times

The ideas of what is meant by a particularly favorable travel climate depend on a number of factors. Pure cultural travelers certainly see the climate differently than people who want to spend a pure beach holiday, for example. The state of health or age can also play an important role.

The weather in the South Atlantic is "very British": cool summers, rainfalls and mild winters make the residents think of the motherland. Only the water temperature is sometimes shockingly low. In addition, Antarctic currents often cause violent weather changes.

The Falklands have cold, balanced oceanic weather with dominant westerly winds. On average it is 9 degrees Celsius during the summer (January to February) and 2 degrees Celsius during the winter (June/July). Areas leeward of the mountain regions have more rainfall than the windward side. Port Stanley and Port Howard have around 630 mm of rainfall per year while Westpoint only measures 430 mm.

Climate table

The following table shows a range of climate data for the Falkland Islands. It should be noted, however, that the table only provides a general overview of the climatic conditions on the Falkland Islands. and only allows conclusions to be drawn about the expected weather to a very limited extent
