MBA in Business Administration
In principle, every MBA is a business degree, because
business administration makes up the majority of the
course content. But of course there are still
differences between the different study programs. With
us you will find a serious overview and all Master of
Business Administration in one overview, including
experience reports from graduates.
Business administration describes the management,
control and organization of a company. Business
management tools should help here to describe and
support decision-making processes in the company.
Those who want to train to the "Master of Business
Administration" have numerous study programs to choose
from. They all have one thing in common: most of the
content comes from business administration. There are
differences, however, whether you choose a specific
subject, such as logistics or health
management, or prefer a general MBA course. Below is all
the information you need.
If you are interested in an MBA in business
administration, you have the entire range of courses to
choose from. There are two groups:
General studies
The classic is an undergraduate course with no
special focus, such as in most cases the MBA General
Management. What is meant are all programs that do not
focus on a particular subject area and that provide the
mostly very diverse study participants (engineers,
doctors, lawyers, etc.) with an overall overview of
business administration.
Study forms and course
The MBA degree in business administration primarily
addresses working people. Accordingly, most courses are
organized in such a way that they can be completed in
parallel to full-time employment (i.e.
part-time). However, there are also different variants
and models for part-time models. Which one is best for
you depends on the one hand on living conditions and on
the other hand on personal preferences with regard to
forms of learning and organization.
Examples:
In the part-time MBA Business Administration at the FOM
University, phases of self-study are combined with
face- to- face events on the weekends. Lessons take
place every other Friday (6:00 p.m. - 9:15 p.m.) and
Saturday (8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.). The standard period of
study for this model is four semesters.
Another option is the part-time MBA distance
learning, such as that offered by the PFH. In this
model, the students acquire the teaching content (in
full or for the most part) in a spatially and temporally
flexible self-study. The relevant teaching materials are
either sent by post or can be accessed via an
appropriate e-learning platform. Depending on the
institute, the standard duration of an MBA distance
learning course is between three and six semesters.
However, a few universities, such as the AFUM Academy
for Business Management, also offer the MBA
degree full-time. In this variant, the course only lasts
two semesters, but the participants have to concentrate
fully on the lessons. You attend lectures and seminars
several times a week at the university itself and
accordingly have no time to work in parallel.
Requirements
MBA courses primarily serve to expand and deepen
existing academic knowledge. Accordingly, one of the
admission requirements is proof of a first university
degree, such as a diploma, bachelor's or state
examination.
Applicants must also have a minimum of professional
experience ; as a rule, at least one to two years are
required.
Since the MBA degree in business management usually
also deals with international topics, numerous modules
are taught in English. Accordingly, applicants often
have to provide proof of sufficient language skills
( e.g. via a TOEFL or TOEIC test). You can find out more
about this in our articles on MBA requirements.
Costs
An MBA in business administration is a significant
investment in your own person and career. Please note
when calculating the financing: In addition to the
tuition fees, additional costs such as journeys,
overnight stays at the place of study or stays abroad
can be added.

- FOM University: 13,810 euros
- PFH Göttingen: 8,714 euros
