MBA in Entrepreneurship

Entrepreneurs recognize opportunities and opportunities, make independent decisions and therefore bear a great responsibility. If this description applies to you and / or you want to prepare yourself for a professional future as a self-employed or entrepreneur in residence, then an entrepreneurship MBA could be the right one! We have summarized all serious information on this page, from the study models to experience reports to a list of all business schools and MBA courses.

In German, the word entrepreneurship means nothing more than “entrepreneurship”. But what exactly can this term mean? Ultimately, entrepreneurs are nothing more than people with an idea or vision that they believe in and that they want to achieve. For example, they have discovered a social or technical problem or a gap in the market and hope that their solution will help and, of course, also make money.

How successful they are with this is usually left in the stars at the beginning of the company. Accordingly, in addition to a sound business education and management qualities, a good entrepreneur must have one thing in particular: a high willingness to take risks. However, this risk must be weighed against the business administration know-how mentioned - the right MBA can form a good knowledge base here.

The MBA Entrepreneurship is aimed primarily at specialists and managers from young and medium-sized companies as well as at all those who would like to become self-employed or who want to learn in-depth know-how in the field of entrepreneurship. Everything revolves around start-up, growth and innovation processes and questions such as: How can new ideas be implemented as profitably as possible? How can my company become (and remain) competitive? Which business tools are important when solving internal company problems?

In order to comprehensively qualify managers and (future) entrepreneurs for their role, the MBA degree in Entrepreneurship accordingly includes a mix of business and entrepreneurial content, such as Operations and Supply Chain Management, Human Resource Management, Financial Accounting, Strategic Management, Corporate Management, Innovation Management, Tax and corporate law or Entrepreneurial Business Planning.

As you can see, many modules are labeled in English. This is because many entrepreneurship courses also have an international context ; In order to optimally prepare graduates for a career in this area, a lot of content is taught in English.

By the way, many courses combine entrepreneurship with specific related subject areas, such as business development, innovation or management.

Study forms and course

The MBA in Entrepreneurship is offered both part-time and full-time . Full-time courses are suitable for anyone who wants to concentrate entirely on their studies. The standard period of study, for example at the FHM in Schwerin, is usually around 20 months.

The majority of MBA courses in the field of entrepreneurship are organized part-time. But there are also differences here. The FH Aachen, for example, offers a part-time course of study lasting 18 months, with classes taking place on Fridays from 6:00 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. and Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.

The AKAD contrast, relies on a distance learning in which, phases of self-study alternate with presence events at the college. Since self-study predominates in this model, it offers a high degree of spatial and temporal flexibility, but accordingly also requires a high degree of discipline and self-motivation. Depending on whether you choose the standard or the sprint version, the course here lasts 24 to 30 months.

Requirements

To be admitted to the MBA Entrepreneurship, applicants usually have to have two qualifications: a first academic degree and a minimum of work experience (usually at least one year or more is required). Depending on the university, it may also be possible that further requirements such as the preparation of a letter of motivation or proof of sufficient language skills or particularly good academic performance may be requested.

Costs

The Master of Business Administration is a major investment in your own further development - not only in terms of time, but also financially. We have created an exemplary overview of the costs. Please remember, however, that we "only" listed the tuition fees - additional features such as stays abroad are not yet included in the costs.

  • FH Aachen: 19,500 euros
  • FHM - FH of medium- sized companies: 10,550 - 15,650 euros
  • HWR Berlin: 15,900 euros
  • AKAD: 14,520 euros
  • Danube University Krems: 22,900 euros

After all, there are various financing options.

Alternatives

To understand the corporate world, it doesn't always have to be an Entrepreneurship MBA. There are also various programs that also teach all the basics of management. This primarily includes the MBA General Management, which covers the entire spectrum of business administration, but does not specifically address a specialist area or industry. Courses such as marketing, international management, controlling or sales / sales management could also be interesting.
