MBA in Change Management
Our world is constantly changing; if you don't want
to be left behind here, you have to constantly
adapt. This applies to individuals as well as to
companies and organizations. However, the latter
generally rely on a specialist who handles and guides
change processes professionally: the change
manager. Here you will find all serious information
about the MBA Change Management: content, costs, all
courses and experience reports from graduates.
"Change before you have to." This well-known quote
from Jack Welch, the former CEO of General Electrics,
sums up the nature of change management well: change is
important in order to remain competitive in the long
term. However, as a company or organization you
shouldn't wait until it becomes necessary; Change should
be carried out with foresight and be an integral part of
your own strategy.
This is precisely why companies employ so-called
change managers, whose job it is to plan, organize,
implement and control changes in structure, systems or
processes within a company. With an appropriate MBA
degree, you can (even better) qualify for managerial
positions in this area.
Change management is used in a wide variety of
company areas and processes ; Accordingly, in addition
to their own specialist area, change managers must also
be familiar with the general processes and structures
within a company and know how they work.
For this reason, the MBA degree in Change Management
has a broad thematic structure and contains content from
different areas. In addition to the typical business
content, the curriculum includes modules such as
Operations and Supply Chain Management, Business
Information Systems and Quantitative Methods, Strategic
Human Resource Management, Financial Accounting,
Reporting and Controlling, International Marketing or
Innovation Management.
Since graduates of an MBA course often work in
management positions, the courses are often rounded
off with elements from the area of leadership and
social skills.
Course of study and duration
If you want to complete an MBA change management, you
not only have to choose a university, but also a form of
study. In addition to the
"classic" full-time option, various part-time models are
also offered.
Full-time studies:
Anyone who chooses a change management full-time MBA,
such as that offered by the HWR Berlin, must be aware
that it is not possible to pursue a professional
activity while studying. The modules, which are
completed in the form of daily lessons or work groups,
take up the time of the participants
completely. Accordingly, one of the great advantages of
this variant is the fact that you can get your MBA after
a relatively short period of 15 months.
Distance learning:
If you want to complete your MBA with the greatest
possible flexibility in terms of time and
space, distance learning is suitable for you, such as
that offered by the Hamburg University of Applied
Sciences. This is designed for a total of five
semesters. The first four semesters include some
face-to-face events; However, the majority of the
teaching materials are suitable for self-study. The
course is completed by completing the master's thesis in
the fifth semester.
Evening and weekend studies:
Another variant of the part-time MBA is evening and
weekend classes, such as those offered by the Niederrhein
University of Applied Sciences. Here too, presence and
self-learning phases alternate; classroom instruction
takes place only on weekends (Fridays 5:00 p.m. - 9:00
p.m. and Saturdays 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.) and can
therefore be easily combined with a job.
Requirements
Change Management MBA courses are usually aimed
at professionals with at least one to two years of
experience who have already had a first university
degree, such as a bachelor's or diploma. While some
universities accept a subject-related degree, others
require a degree in economics. However, students from
other areas are given the opportunity to acquire the
relevant business knowledge in a pre-MBA semester.
Costs
An MBA degree is usually a major investment in your
own person and career. The costs for the complete study
are quickly in the four- to five-digit range and the
study fees do not include possible stays abroad.
Examples of tuition fees:
- HWR Berlin : 15,900 euros
- Hamburg University of Applied Sciences: 10,860
euros
- Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences : EUR
12,480
