Major Areas of MBA Study Part I
We have listed them alphabetically and hope that this
will give you a good first overview of the general
content of the course of study you want!
Art and Culture
The pressure to professionalize is increasing not only
in business, but also in the field of art and
culture. These study programs promote artistic
sensitivity and originality, and you also acquire basic
skills in the areas of business, law, self-organization,
management and marketing. This course brings (he)
knowledge and promotes your creativity.
Biotechnology
This field of study usually hides an interdisciplinary
science. It deals with the topics of microbiology,
biochemistry (chemistry), molecular biology, genetics
and bioinformatics. There are green (plants), red
(medicine / pharmacy), white (industry), gray (waste
management), brown (environment) and blue (in relation
to marine resources) biotechnology.
Business Administration (Business
Administration / Business Administration)
This area of study is also known as business
administration and is a sub-area of
economics. Business administration is based on the
assumption that goods are fundamentally scarce and
therefore require economical handling. In comparison to
the more abstract economics, business administration
mostly deals with individual companies. The primary goal
is the description and explanation as well as the
concrete support of the decision-making processes in
companies, which are often carried by several people.
Business Engineering
This course deals with problems resulting from the
transformation of the industrial into the information
society. Changes in the environment (markets, customers,
values, etc.) and innovations in information and
communication technology create new business models.
Change Management Change management
deals with all tasks, measures and activities that are
intended to bring about a comprehensive,
cross-departmental and far-reaching change in an
organization. This happens primarily with regard to the
implementation of new strategies, structures, systems,
processes or behaviors.
Communications
Paul Watzlawick already stated: "You cannot not
communicate". The focus of this course is on your own
communication skills, which are further developed and
optimized in different and often practical teaching
units. For some schools, this course is also linked to
the additional acquisition of knowledge in media design.
Consulting (management consultancy)
This course teaches a form of advice that aims to solve
a task or problem or to approach an efficient
solution. This process can be used in hierarchical,
therapeutic, educational or sociological conflicts.
Economics
It is viewed as a sub-area of economics and examines
relationships that have to do with the production and
distribution of goods and factors of production. VWL
also deals with human behavior under economic
conditions. It questions how human action can be
economically justified and which action brings the
greatest possible benefit for the individual. VWL is
looking for regularities and recommendations for action
for economic policy. It also deals with individual
economic processes in the context of microeconomics and
with macroeconomic processes in the context of
macroeconomics.
Entrepreneurship (entrepreneurship)
This deals with the start-up process or the
establishment of new organizations. This field also
includes creative elements such as the identification of
market opportunities, the discovery of new business
ideas and their implementation in the form of new
business models.
Environmental Sciences Environmental
science can be described as an interdisciplinary field
of study and research because it deals specifically with
the human environment and the effects of human
activities on the environment. By including traditional
subjects such as biology, chemistry and physics, which
were instrumental in their creation, environmental
sciences are part of the natural sciences. Depending on
the focus, there are a variety of natural sciences and
humanities that are involved in environmental sciences.
