The Difference Between a Post Graduate Diploma and an MBA

A Master of Business Administration (MBA) and a postgraduate education are two programs available after a student has received a bachelor's degree. At U.S. colleges and universities, is an MBA is considered a master's degree. A graduate education is not available in the United States A post-graduate students the equivalent of an American doctoral student, as in other countries, a student is considered a post-graduate if he has received a bachelor's degree.

The Difference Between a Post Graduate Diploma and an MBA

Criteria vary between educational institutions, but usually a successful MBA candidate will have to have taken the GMAT or GRE pre-entrance test. Schools do not have a required minimum score in these tests. Access to a post-graduate program will correspond to the MBA, GMAT and GRE test but is not required, since these are only used in the United States.

A graduate education is typically completed within a year, while an MBA normally requires two years of full-time study. Some advanced MBA courses can be completed in one year.

The most important outcome from an MBA is an actual degree. A post-graduate-program results in a diploma in a particular area. However, students often transfer credits from a post-graduate diploma in a master's degree.

Although MBA programs are often delivered at American schools, they are available from many universities around the world. Postgraduate diplomas are typically offered at universities in Canada, New Zealand, United Kingdom and Australia, even though other countries also offers this diploma.
