The site Phone Arena held last Tuesday(08/3) a review of the battery of the Galaxy S7 with results that gave a talk: according to the page, the battery of the new top of the line Samsung, even with capacity of 3.000mAh , Would have inferior performance to the battery of the S6 and would lose even for the iPhone 6S. But what should we consider in this story?
- Galaxy S7 Review-Back to the Old Virtues!
- Galaxy S7 vs. IPhone 6S
According to the chart below, the Phone Arena test indicated that the S7’s battery performance loses not only Apple’s top line, but even its predecessor, the Galaxy S6. And that’s even with the battery of the new model of Samsung having almost double the capacity of the representative of Apple(3,000mAh against 1,715mAh), in addition to being almost 18% higher than the S6.
Nothing against the tests of Phone Arena, which is a respected website, but the results presented by them raise some considerations.
The first is that the S7 used for testing the site is already with the skin of Verizon, one of the largest operators in the United States. Typically, these skins feature preinstalled apps that tend to drain battery life more quickly. In the tests with the S7 carried out by AndroidPIT, the device only counted on the Touchwiz, the native interface of Samsung, which affects the performance.
Handsets with carrier skins bring pre-installed apps that drain your battery faster
The second is that benchmark tests are only meant to give you a performance benchmark, but it does not accurately reflect an ordinary user’s day-to-day life. We reviewed the reviews of other equally respected sites, such as The Verge, Engadget and Android Authority and all use the device as a daily battery. The results are similar to ours for both the S7 and the iPhone 6S: the battery lasts all day, but you need your friend taken when you get home.
The third point counts in favor of the Galaxy S7: its ultra-fast charging technology arrives in second place in the tests of the Phone Arena(graphic below). The S7 takes 88 minutes to fully recharge its battery, losing only the Galaxy S6(78 minutes, but with a battery of 2550mAH). And thirdly we have the S7 Edge(99 minutes, but with a battery of 3.600mAh). The iPhone 6S appears in the penultimate position, taking 150 minutes to have its battery with 100% power.
If the Phone Arena data is correct, here’s a miracle: Apple finally managed to create an iPhone that hit an Android battery. And this, worth remembering, with a component with almost half the capacity of its archrival Samsung. All this thanks to a software well tied with hardware and that brings a very intelligent management of the battery. Points for “Apple”!
However, Android has three good advantages over iPhones: 1-its ultra-fast charging technology is more evolved; 2-the performance of your battery tends to remain more stable in the medium and long term compared to Apple smartphones; 3-Manufacturers and Google will increasingly invest in smart battery management solutions, which do not necessarily go through the number of mAhs, but make Android learn more and more with user habits to save energy.
Next, scenes from the next chapters(read: the arrival of the iPhone 7).
