The beginning of the new school year after the (three-month) summer vacation (on September 1st) is celebrated nationwide (retained from the Soviet period). In festive attire, parents and students celebrate the "first bell" with dances, chants, etc. As the highlight of the ceremony, the oldest male student traditionally carries the youngest student, who rings the school bell, on his back across the schoolyard.
The country's climate is typically continental. That means cold and snowy winters with relatively dry and hot summers.
The average temperature in January is between -19 and -4 degrees C °, while the average temperature in July is between + 19 and +26 C °. The lowest temperatures reach around -45 °C in winter and the highest in summer around + 30 °C.
