Kiribati: Holidays, Sports, Climate
There are a number of public holidays that do not have a fixed date, but are based on the location of Easter. Easter takes place on the first Sunday that follows the first full moon after the beginning of spring. Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent, which ends on Holy Saturday, is 46 days before Holy Saturday. The date for Pentecost is then 50 days after Easter. The Corpus Christi festival is celebrated on the 2nd Thursday after Pentecost. All Saints' Day is celebrated for Orthodox Christians on the 1st Sunday after Pentecost, but for Catholic Christians the date is fixed on November 1st.

The best time to travel to Kiribati
Despite the consistently warm weather throughout the year, the best time to travel is in the months of December to March because of the lower rainfall.
The climatic conditions in different regions of the country can differ considerably from each other and therefore also from the values shown. In addition, such monthly temperature averages say little about the possible current minimum or maximum temperatures. It is not uncommon for maximum values of 40 °C or even more to occur at average temperatures of around 30 °C. The table therefore only provides a general overview of the country's climatic conditions.
|Month||Average number of rainy days||Mean maximum temperatures in (°C)||Mean minimum temperatures in (°C)|
UNESCO World Heritage Sites
The Phoenix Islands belong to the island state of Kiribati in the South Pacific, in the western Pacific. The Kiribati state consists of three island groups, one of which is the Phoenix Islands. The Phoenix Islands include eight uninhabited atolls and two coral reefs that lie north of Samoa. The mainland area of this group of islands is approx. 30 km². The archipelago includes the following islands: Canton, Enderbury, Birnie, Rawaki, Orona, Manra, Teraina and Nikumarora. The islands are mainly low-growth reefs where numerous species of seabirds nest and breed. The two associated reefs, Winslow and the horseshoe-shaped Carondelet Reef, are constantly submerged reefs that are to be considered as inland waters as they have no access to the open sea. They are about 10 m below the sea surface. The protected area also includes the sea surrounding the islands with an area of approximately 400,000 km². The biodiversity in the sea is very great.
The Phoenix Islands were added to the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 2010
The men's house occupies a prominent position in the village in terms of its central location, but also in terms of size and the craftsmanship.
